Medical Device Design Conference

Jacob BenArie, the founder of MDDMI: “I realized there was a need for an Israel medical device design exhibition several years ago when I was developing an electrical stimulation product for Beta-Stim. Instead of travelling all over the world to find a suitable contractor, it made sense for us to be able to meet with local talent in a single place.”

Now in its fifth year, the Conference and Exhibition For the Medical Device Design & Manufacturing Industry will take place on December 10-11 at the David Intercontinental Hotel in Tel Aviv.

BenArie points out that many Israeli designers and manufacturers today working in the medical device industry obtained years of experience meeting the high regulatory standards of the defense industry, where cleanroom and other QA facilities and procedures are a must.

“Many of these contractors are willing to help early stage medical device developers reduce their risk by serving as strategic partners and offering in-house services at a low cost,” says BenArie, describing one of the topics that will be discussed during the conference sessions.

Other sessions will include brief presentations by medical device developers in which they will receive feedback from a panel of international experts. In addition to BenArie, conference advisors include Prof. Rafi Beyar, Director of Rambam Health Care Campus, Dr. Shimon Eckhouse, Chairman of Syneron-Candela, Dr. Nissim Darvish, Senior Managing Director of Orbimed Israel, Guido Pardo Roques, General Manager of Philips Medical Systems (Haifa), Dr. Oded Meirav, Business Devleopment manager of GE Israel and Dorit Alduby, Business Development of Frost & Sullivan. Jacob BenArie is actively involved in the medical device industry as an investor, serving as a Managing Partner at Jaz Medical, a boutique investment group that offers hands-on management to early-stage companies. He currently is the CEO of Orgenesis and has worked for close to 20 years in various positions in the life science industry, including serving as the CEO of Beta-Stim Ltd, a privately held company that developed a therapy for the treatment of type 2 diabetics and as the co-founder of Slender Medical.
