Father of Autistic Son Invents Therapy
BioHug offers a novel technology for autism, ADHD, hypertension and various other stress-related conditions.
The BioHug Vest comprises a light portable vest that calms people experiencing stress by applying deep, hug-like pressure. The calming effect is prolonged by constantly varying the pressure applied to different parts of the body using compressed air.
Clinical studies have shown that “Deep Pressure” therapies can effectively treat autism and stress-related conditions but until now those therapies, which include ‘squeeze machines’, weighted devices and hand-pumped vests, have been limited in their use due to cost and design shortcomings.
The BioHug Vest overcomes these limitations using a novel, state-of-the-art design developed by the father of an autistic child.
The company has begun sales in Israel to group homes for people with autism and is in the process of becoming an approved vendor for New York City Public Schools.
The product has received a CE Mark and worldwide distributors are being sought.
Company management includes CTO Raffi Rembrand, the inventor, CEO Andrew Schiffmiller, a veteran consultant to the pharmaceutical instustry, and Eynat Gal, co-founder and co-inventor.
