Fermentek is now offering research organizations, labs and pharmaceutical companies three new biochemical products: artemisinin,
All of the components used in Fermentek’s production process for puromicin, an antibiotic that is a protein synthesis inhibitor, are animal-free, notes CTO Dr. Moti Rebhun. He points out that all of the company’s microbial and herbal products are produced by non-GMO micro-organisms and plants.
The mode of action and applications for artemisinin, are being actively studied by universities
and research centers. Artemisinin is an antibiotic currently being used in the treatment of malaria and that recently been shown to be an anti-cancer agent.
Fermentek produces streptozotocin, using a streptomyces microbe. Streptozotocin’s uses include the treatment of certain cancers and diabetes.
