The urgent need for improved vaccines in the Chinese market was made clear in recent weeks as the Chinese media reported the tragic news of several babies that died after they received hepatitis B vaccines made by a local manufacturer.

There are big opportunities for the developers of improved safe vaccines of various kinds, notes Gong Yunpeng one of the organizers of Biotech China 2014 which is taking place in Nanjing in May. He points out that one of the main goals of the first-time event is to help bring innovative technologies to the Chinese market.
