Submissions Open for Biotechnica Award
Submissions are now open for the EUROPEAN BIOTECHNICA AWARD.
The coveted award will go to a European company that has introduced a disruptive technology in the field of biotechnology or the life sciences and has demonstrably shepherded it through to successful commercialization. The EUROPEAN BIOTECHNICA AWARD is offered by Deutsche Messe and its partners. It was first launched in 2003 and has since has become one of Europe’s most prestigious biotechnology awards. The Award will be presented to its winner before an audience of 500 guests from industry, science and government during the Opening Ceremony for BIOTECHNICA in Hannover, Germany, on Monday, 5 October.
There are two ways in which companies can enter the Award. They can either apply directly or be nominated by an international jury. This year’s Award is for disruptive technologies – i.e. new developments that have replaced existing technologies or closed technological gaps. Examples from past years include PCR technology in the diagnosis of diseases, monoclonal antibody therapy in medicine, and enzyme-catalyzed production processes in industry.
Submissions close on 31 March 2015, and the winner will be selected by an expert jury following a review of all applications and nominations. Dr. Karsten Henco, the jury president and Managing Partner of HS LifeSciences GmbH, Düsseldorf: “Europe remains an important engine of biotechnology innovation. The BIOTECHNICA AWARD honors innovations that show great promise as tomorrow’s international market leaders.”
